In my experience though, most business gets done during dinner. As an interpreter, I often do something called “dinner assistance”, which is where I’m asked to shadow the delegate during dinner.

It allows them to converse with their table neighbours freely, without the language barrier, and it’s a great way to break the ice, or keep important negotiations going.

Dinner assistance can occur prior to an event starting, after an event has taken place, or even in the middle of a longer event.
