Did you know that videos are not interpreted at events, unless they’re supplied in advance? This is one of those across-the-board “rules” in the interpreting industry.

Why? Because videos often have audio and visual elements which are speeded up, distorted or otherwise challenging to decipher. There’s also usually background music, text and graphics and the need to fit the dialogue to the scene.

The simple solution is to provide them to the interpreter in advance, and to make sure your presenters are aware of this…just in case their presentations feature pre-recorded video!
