A while back, I posted about interpreting accents I’m not regularly exposed to.

The solution was a pre-session meeting to discuss the agenda & familiarise myself with his Scottish accent.

At a recent assignment it was a different story.

I was interpreting at the Amazon Prime Video event, through a wonderful agency I work with.

Media interpreting is fast & intense, so I was excited to be part of it, not least as it starred my favourite actors!

One of the challenges I relished was the rapid change between accents & speed of speech of the interviewees. One minute I’d be interpreting a clipped, mile-a-minute East coast accent; the next a Southern drawl.

It kept me on my toes!
